Hi all! Hope everyone is having a nice spring (though it feels like summer already!). We've recently completed our mobile "summer coop", which we hope to use for breeding or quarantine if the need ever arises.
In the meantime the new coop has been helpful to ease our youngest birds into...
Exciting update from Lincoln, we've have our first successful hatch! It's an Australorp cross (either with a production red or a silver laced wyandotte). We've got a few eggs waiting to hatch, hoping she'll have some company in the brooder soon!
Already in love!
Our girls finally started laying last week, and yesterday one of our production reds gave us this beautiful double-yolker!
Next to Hy-vee large eggs (the egg was so big we couldn't close the carton!)
Ready for huevos rancheros..
Oh thank you! The black & white is quite chic, I must say.
May I ask where you got your speckled Sussex from? We may be interested in adding more hens to our flock down the line (after winter, of course).
Oh I just love the coloring of the speckled Sussex, pretty bird!
Alice is a white laced Polish crested. Here are some photos of her after I gave her a "haircut".
Gorgeous flock! What kind is the hen in the center?
Hi fellow Nebraskans, we're just outside of LNK and having a great time raising our first flock: a mixed group of 13 hens and 2 roosters:
Now they just need to start laying! :)
