Oh, where were you three months ago? I had 2 extra EE roosters that were residing at my in-laws. I had no takers around here. No one wanted them even for free. Last time time I was out to the farm and in the coop, they were gone. I'm sure they went to the coop in the sky via the chopping block.
We got a couple inches yesterday and over night. It's really light and fluffy. It was just like Wildsky described, big fluffy flakes & not much wind so it kind of looked like a snow globe outside.
Ugh, it's supposed to be really cold later this week. Thursday's high is supposed to be 0...
Aaron - I figured that was your hen. I remembered that you were planning on bringing her up. I was telling the DH, here's the breed I want and the guy who brought her up here is on BYC. DH is happy I will be able to get new birds locally. Well, within the state at least.
I will definitely...
The SQ Buffs orps were huge. We were very impressed by the size.
I was also impressed by the size of the dewlap toulouse. Those were some very large geese. I was very happy to see several American Buffs and some Pilgrim geese as well. Nice to see the endangered breeds are still holding on...
Thanks chickenwhisperer123! I checked the Lincoln city code on the City website and 1-2 chickens = no permit needed.
More than 2 chickens, you need to apply for a permit. You can also keep geese, turkeys, and pigeons as long as you apply for and receive a permit. Looks like the annual cost...
Hey Lincoln people or Lincon area people! Are your chickens "covert" or does Lincoln actually allow chickens? And if Lincoln allows chickens, what else are you allowed to have?
Thanks!
It sure seems like it. It's bad enough in town, but hold on to your hair if you live out in the country.
The old saying is that when the wind stops blowing in Nebraska, everyone falls over.

NO WAY!!!!! My in-laws live south of Hampton. We drive through there a few times each month when we go visit them. My father-in-law has raised chickens for years. He's my chicken guru. My hens came from his flock and he's currently raising our meat birds since he's "on the farm"...
We've had a mild spring here in central NE. (knock on wood).
During a watch I keep a close eye on the sky and the radar. I try to batten down the hatches on the coop if I need to. But, when we end up in a warning, the chickens and the geese will stay outside and we'll pray for the best like...
You'll get used to tornado season.
Welcome to Nebraska! You'll have to head out to "greater Nebraska" (which is anything not in the Omaha/Lincoln area) when you get a chance. There's lot's to see in this state dispite what the East Coast and West Coast people say.
