    As far as weighing goes, easiest method I found is using a postal scale, putting a dog crate on it, zero it out, then put bird in crate.

    V-comb breeds like Houdan, La Fleche, Polish, Crevecouer and the like would do well in cold climates as well. The Chantecler with it's cushion comb is probably best brown egg laying dual purpose for that climate though,

    Nooooo don't say this. Haha I'm eagerly awaiting my first ever shipped eggs and hoping for good results. I do agree it's nice to have chicks or adults shipped though.

    I sent off an email to the closest officer. Haven't heard back yet. Hopefully will before long. It's just the waiting game. I have been almost entirely out of birds for a while now but getting back in and all three breeds I want (Langshans, WFB Spanish and Chanteclers) are difficult to find...

    Any White or Partridge Chantacler breeders in the Pacific Northwest? I'd be looking for started/adult birds in the late summer/fall or chicks/eggs early next year.
