I think you will be pleased with your Chanteclers for what you want. They are from John Blehm who has done awesome things with the breed (and with Ameraucanas) and I am so pleased to see him working with Cackle! Out of the breeds you list, the only one that would come close to them is the...
::shrug:: Why not skip the Wyandotte and the Delaware and work on improving the Chantecler? What are they bringing to the table that the Chantecler doesn't offer?
I've had both Orloffs and Delawares here in Alaska. I had breeder stock in the Dels and Welp hatchery stock in Orloffs. Even though I dealt with some frostbite on the roos in the Dels, their productive (number and size of eggs) blew the Orloffs out of the water. The Orloff eggs were small, they...
Well, I promised I would post and I am! The white Chantecler chicks arrive from Fayrehale this morning. They were a day late despite Express shipping, but only one was DOA and the rest are still hale and hearty and settling in with my Houdan chicks. Jim was even kind enough to send a few extra...
I think my location (Alaska) might have a bit to do with my bad luck with eggs. However, there is someone else in Alaska that went for the hatching eggs from Fayrehale and apparently had some luck!
Toofarout, it is threatening snow here today too after a streak of lovely weather. I'm sure it...
Yes, I'm so thankful. Soooo many bad experiences with shipped eggs. It's always something—the weather, poor handling by the P.O., poor packaging, the power goes out, my incubator is terrible, etc. I love people that will just send me the babies. :)
So it looks like Cackle Hatchery has white Chanteclers listed on their site now...apparently hoping to actually have them available in 2014 so they must be a new addition and building their flock. Anyone know who they got their starter stock from?

LOL, ok, I guess they look about as Cornish as they do Chantecler, but it would be just as easy to make BLR and Blue Chanteclers with them as it would be BLR or Blue Cornish.
I really like the old pictures of Chanteclers that show the heavy Cornish influence. These were originally a...

Does anyone have any of the WHITE Chanteclers from Sandhill? I was looking at their website and saw that they list them, but it said they were sold out for the entire 2010 season...do they still offer them? Were they sold out because the birds are nice, or just popular? Hmm.

Regal? Nah. This dude's kinda dopey, but in a sweet way. It may just be because he's currently the low man on the totem-pole. We'll see if his posture improves one he's got his own digs with his own gals. I'm really looking forward to seeing how his babies turn out with both the...

Shelly, that's what I'm finding with this boy, too. Are yours kind of "fluffy" as well, or more tight feathered? Seems like the whites I've seen were pretty tight-feathered. Couldn't tell as much with the partridge....I'd love to see pictures of yours!
