egg size is a dissapointment, my girl tries hard (by that i mean the eggs aren't getting any bigger around just longer, like torpedoes)... I want to make egg size something i select for but i'm not sure how to go about it. everyone i talk to who breeds them says egg size is not great.
now that my partridge chanties are getting older, i'm fairly certain i have a trio, but i notice that the hens seam to have 2 different looks to them, the one is more dark brown the other golden red (not like the roo is though), any thoughts on that? they are all from the same batch of hatching...

thanks, that is reassuring to hear. when i looked at the parent flock photos, they were sharp looking birds, solid type and clear cut markings. the roo was gorgeous! I only have the 3 so i will keep them till the mature at least, would be lovely to end up with a proper trio! fingers crossed...

i'd love it if they were all pullets haha, always easier to find a quality roo then it is to find a decent hen or 2! At what age do sex feathers tend to come in on these guys? i usually look for those haha.

Unfortunately I only have 3 to choose from. I'm having a hard time guessing on sexing here too, so any help would be appreciated... they are from 2 maybe 3 lines, so not horribly consistant either!

This one acts like a roo, picks up food and clucks...
it doesnt look like i will end up with a bumper hatch at anyrate, there are alot of no grows in there! i have 3 due to hatch in a week from a different person, darker brown, and i have the ones i posted a picture of, on sunday i will candle and toss. i did see some growing, but more were clear...
