Sooo...my sis in law has five 6 month Narragansett turkeys. She'd originally planned on keeping them long term or butchering in a month or so. But she's now got to get rid of them and is considering posting them on craigslist for somebody else to butcher in a month or two. Can anybody give us...
Been crazy busy all summer. I was just scrolling through the last couple of pages here. So sad about Green Dragon. We used to go to Leesport and New Holland all the time with my Mom's ex. He talked about Green Dragon and taking hay there when he used to haul but we never got there with him.
While we're on the subject of treating lice and mites... I get DE powder with permethrin from TSC and powder my guys twice a year. I've done it so far this past fall and early spring anyway. I haven't seen any mites so I'm assuming it's been working.
I'm just questioning it now though...
So I'm starting out on my first adventure in incubating eggs this week coming up.
My daughter's favorite bantam Cochin chick squeezed through the wire run last weekend and was out in the yard after dark. My Shorthair, Jager found her and tried to play with her. You can imagine the outcome...
OMG! I must have one of those! Seriously. If you ever sell them and can ship I know someone who would order some with me in a heartbeat. That is the cutest thing I've seen in a while.
Yes. And made me feel so much better when I thought I was going to have to cull my whole flock of babies after listening to all the sensationalism.
@ KlingKlan. I'm gonna say your new girls are production reds or red sex links.
Don't you just love it when they choose to sleep where they want to despite your best efforts?
Speaking of which, I've come to a point where I need to decide what I'm going to do with my girls.
I have a good solid water and weather proof coop where the grown up chickens sleep. There are...
Ok, I'm freaking out a bit now once again here. And I feel like a terrible chicken momma. D:
This Mt. Healthy Hatchery salmonella outbreak... I had 9 hens and a rooster to start out the year. All nine hens laying well and everybody fat and happy. I bought 8 chicks from TSC between March...
I have a spare EE pullet. She hatched beginning of Oct last year. So she's about six months old. I also have a yr old silver sebright hen I need to rehome. Not sure where you are exactly. I'm just south of Hazleton.
So licking chickens IS safe and ok if they've first been batter dipped and pressure boiled in hot oil for about fifteen minutes?
I shall have to make note of that. ^_^
So, if I'm reading correctly, as long as my flock is showing no signs of diarrhea, fluffy scraggly feathers, or just looking sick, they're probably ok. Which means we're probably ok. I mean, yeah, I will still refrain from licking them, though it's gonna be hard XD
But as long as we just use...
Lol! Ok so stop liking the chicks. Got it! XD
I asked at our TSC earlier this spring just because I was curious. They said they get their chicks from Mt. Healthy. I wasn't too thrilled just because their website is quite uninformative and unhelpful. I like to know exactly what I'm...
Scary thing is that that's where TSC gets their chicks from here. Which means that is where my Brahmas and Bantams came from...
NOW what do I do? D: should I be worried??
I'm afraid you're absolutely right. And I know it, just can't get DH off the couch to execute his Princess' rooster. D:
Gonna have to go do it myself. That way I'M the only one responsible. I think that's the underlying motive here. HE doesn't want any parts of this one.
So, my next...
