This year I've had three Silkies, two Buff Orpingtons, one Rhodebar, one Delaware, one Barnevelder, one Rhode Island White, one Phoenix, and an EASTER EGGER go broody.
I'm with ya.
Does anyone sell free-range, pasture-fed turkeys? What do you charge?
We raised them last year for ourselves and have had a few friends ask. We want to ensure we cover our costs, not necessarily make a hefty profit.
[I'm not in a heavily saturated market up here in the far northeast]
Hey guys.
I don't usually post, because I had a rough start of it and chose to learn the hard way. Now I just lurk.
BUT I need your wealth of knowledge. I try to leave my broodies in the big pen so that I don't have any re-integration issues. My nesting boxes are about 3' off the ground (4'...
I had a hen standing in a nesting box tonight...
I'm going back to double check on her. I've NEVER not had everyone roosting. Makes me nervous. Could he be broody? Maybe laying this late?!
You might be trying to put them in too early. I just shut my doors now. If I try earlier than, MAYBE 7:45 I have to chase them (& they're not chicks mostly).
Here's the crazy color-changing comb on Big Red:
That's the "black" that shows up.
This is normal him (he was attacked by something and lost some of his neck feathers (we're assuming since he showed up one day like that).
So whatta ya think? Weird right?
She said (on 07/03) "I have a small hatch (10) of lav Araucana chicks that just started hatching. If you're interested they are $8 each. Several of my girl seem to be going broody on me, so not wwure how much in eggs to expect right now. I can see what happens and let you know on those. Let me...
Silkie, you've probably already handled this, but DE kills bedbugs rather effectively. Our neighbor in the city had them and we sprinkled it on THICK for a while and eventually it killed them all.
I only need them for "forage". They're supposed to be keeping down my multiflora rose, etc. I have 3 Boer mix wethers.
near Honesdale (up past Scranton).
What the heck?! We bought our goats for a LOT more! I wish I knew about auctions!!!
Are there any in this area?
Also, I got pictures of our rooster with the color-changing comb. I'll be posting later. Fireworks tonight, so I'm trying to get chores done early. Hot hot hot!
We have one who is stealing our duck's eggs every time she gets a nest going. Poor girls. Now they're making nests halfway into the woods...expecting feathers soon.

I messaged the NPIP vet. This is what she had to say:
"
If you need to be NPIP clean to sell hatching eggs out of state, we can make it work for you. It is a lot of work to be on the program, but you get the status of being NPIP clean. That means a lot.
If you can santitize your hatching...
I've been haunting craigslist for another since my 3 boys can't handle the amount they're supposed to be eating. There are some pretty cheap up here, but I don't know about by you.
How much did you pay at auction?
