Yep. Got a good price for them for my area and they're off to live with some neighborhoods head of the gardening committee. Which is good because I still have 9 POL pullets and 14 wheaten/EE chicks and 4 australorps and 2 leghorns from TSC I got for $0.50 each at two weeks old to select from for...

Sold three of the POL green layers today, just as I'd hoped (the darkest three). Soon I will bounce the three remaining Garage Birds to outside and bring the other six pullets in. The plan is to sell at least most of those birds once I see what color they lay.

@Msoul Easter eggers. Green legs, not a recognized APA color. Rooster looks like it MIGHT be a modified pea comb. VERY pretty though. I love EE colors. Contacted the person on craigslist - they are ESL and the rooster is a mix. Alas. :(

I've asked them to send me closer photos. Maybe I'll get some answers. :P

The real question is whether he's better than ol pale-legs-whose-sister-layed-brown-eggs over here; Kinda hard to say I think. So far 5 hens from his eggs have layed blue/green which is promising but the other 7 aren't laying yet.

It sounds like maybe they are ESL or have a communication related disability. It sure looks like a wheaten to my eyes. The hens are definitely mixed. I think they're saying the hens are GL Wyandotte and Ameraucana mix. I don't care about the hens, tbh. They can go live with a friend, get...

My experience is not with bantams but... Ameraucanas are strong layers as long as they have a lot of light, but they stop early in the winter and start late in the spring. http://www.privetthatchery.com/home/product.aspx?Session=b96f7048dd574f31aca5a67c7a15ffda&id=ARS...

Welp, getting about 5 eggs a day from the six! All green/blue! That's VERY promising! I'm hopefully rehoming 3 in the next couple weeks. :) Then I can do a little shuffle, bring the ones who were hatched from brown eggs into the garage and give them some supplemental lighting and move the other...

Bingo. I've been trying to move into pure wheatens for a long time but haven't been able to find anyone decent selling chicks and have had an AWFUL time hatching shipped eggs. So if this boy is OO, I'm going to get some black ameraucana hens to mix in locally to start improving leg color and...

Well, first, these are ameraucana crosses (easter eggers), most are wheaten AmeraucanaxISA brown hens under a wheaten ameraucana roo. So green is fine right now. Second, I bought some semi-shoddy "ameraucanas" from someone last year and one of them layed me some brown eggs. :T These chicks are...

The first few of my test breeding chickens from spring have started to lay! And *so far* it's all good news - blues and greens only. However, we're also only a few eggs in.

I've done the heat mat and I like it more than the lamp. I use the lamp only in winter now or when my heat mats are under plants (jan-may). Spring-fall I use a viagrow plant heat mat or broodies.

Low. Why don't you post a picture and we can try to let you know. :) Edit; these are probably low quality but as pure as any other breed. But picture would still let you know. https://www.meyerhatchery.com/productinfo.a5w?prodID=BAMF Also, these are pretty new, when I started in on chickens...

Ok, so, the first chicks I hatched from my rooster from the batch with the brown egg layer and whiteish legs are about to start laying. 20 weeks today. Taking bets on if they'll lay brown, or blue? Half the chicks came from blue eggs, half from brown. :p (They're separated so we know which eggs...

I set 36 eggs from my stock today. I'm interested in what peoples first impression culls would be based on too. I think the obvious would be good beard/muffs, pea comb, deformities, crossbeak, etc. But I wonder if there's anything else telling.
