I got them from Southgate Faverolles in TN. Devon, the owner of the place, was working on making the blue darker. I may try to lighten it a bit, although Rosie, the pullet, has beautiful light blue on her primaries and tail. Sig, the cockerel, has darker blue all where normally it would be...
I'm actually hoping to lighten the blue my two have now. We are redoing the whole coop situation but I may split them into different "families" for now and refine from there. I'd like to stay away from wing or leg bands if possible.
That is the plan I have been working out, a little complex but should indeed create a good spread of blue. With 2 Salmon hens it definately helps stave off inbreeding.
Ok, so I have been going over old posts on this forum and still having a tough time learning the differences between French and German Faverolles. Is it just color or is there more to it??
I'll be starting to breed come springtime. Jim Bean here will be the poppa. He is going through a light molt currently. One of the mommas, Gabby. She and Willow, my other hen, are going through hard molts right now. Never tried breeding before so looking forward to the experience come spring.
