When I have let my broody hatch eggs I have given her her own broody coop so that there is no chance she will go to the wrong place. The other option is to incubate eggs and swap the chicks in under the broody after they hatch.
Glad I am not the only one with super broody EEs... My mixed breed hen has a fair amount of White Leghorn in her bloodline but she went broody very young, less than 6 months old if I remember right. She has gone broody 4 times now and is only 1 year and 2 months old.
Speaking of coloring - anyone have any idea what feather pattern this little rooster will have when fully feathered in? His mother was a Red Star(the one in the pullet picture) and father was the mix breed"EE" that is primarily W-Leghorn/Australorp/Blue Am.

I imagine I will be having the same problem but with the girlfriend - the chicken math is catching up with me as I am trying to plan out my breeding project...

Recently I have really wanted to get an Ameraucana simply to breed it to a pearl white leghorn...
Couldn't agree more. I love the look of the Easter Eggers we received from the hatchery, they are beautiful. The only thing I don't like is not knowing if they will lay blue or green eggs. I would really like them to lay a nice color of blue.
Here are two of our new Easter Eggers, far left...

It seems that anything that doesn't fit that standard including color is considered an Easter Egger. Technically even Ameraucana would fit into easter egger breed but not the other way around considering they were bred from them to an arbitrarily...
