Tried to get some pictures of the babies, but the wind had them all freaked out. I did get one of my favorite EE any one want to venture a guess as to it's gender? It was bought out of a pullet tub however there a a lot of things she/he does that screams Roo.

I ordered from Ideal last year......I ordered 6 Dark Brahmas, 4 Cochin
I got 3 Cochin 1 which died, (the fourth is a partridge Brahama) the dark Cochins were all correct, I ended up with a Partridge Rock and a mystery chick that was killed at about 4 months. The only reason I didn't...
Today I built a little chick pen and let the babies out for a little while these are my tow favorites. I love the coloring on this one.
She got pretty comfortable in my hand and fell asleep
I love the eyes of this one.she is the most inquisitive of the chicks:

EE or not, its a great Easter pic!
Wouldn't it be wild if those colors and patterns in their down didn't change as they feather?
yes it would be...this is the first EE's I've had so I can't wait to see what they will turn out like.
It has been chilly ever since I got the EE chicks, I haven't been able to get a great picture yet. This is the best so far. I love the outlining on her eye.
I know this isn't an EE but it is a good picture of my great-nephew holding one of the new chicks. I was afraid to let him hold an EE...
Hoping that the weather is a little better tomorrow so I can get pictures of the babies. They are all thriving still a little shy since it has been too cold to fol with them. Sometimes brooding outside has disadvantages.

I did not squeeze them to get the egg to come out. I was planning on doing that when I got home and the egg was already there. I guess they knew what was...
not a great picture taking day; it turned chilly again . One had a pasty bumm so we did take her out to clean it up.
of course chicken dog Buster had to make sure she was alright
one quick shot

Congrats, since you are brooding them does that mean you get to pick your 5? but then it is like only picking 5 godiva chocolates out of the box.
This friend and I always get chicks together, so nice to have a cohort! They are all supposed to be pullets so I guess it is like a box of...
I done went and did it!!!!!! I am now the proud mama of 5 EE's and the Auntie of 15 . I drove awhile today to visit someone who said they had birds I wanted that didn't work out,
On the way home we passed a feed store(I remember when clothes store use to thrill me) ! Any way they had just...

Its impossible to know unless a test breeding has confirmed that the male EE carries the blue egg gene. If it carries two copies, all his female chicks will lay blue or green; one copy produces 50%; and of course he can't produce blue eggers out of non-blue eggers if he doesn't carry...

The blue egg gene is dominant, so you will most likely end up with hens laying blue or green eggs, but theres also a slight chance that they will lay brown.
I believe the blue egg gene is closly related to the pea comb on EEs so the off spring with single combs will most likely lay...
