You may not have seen a reason but he did. There are many ways to train that behavior out of him if your willing to try. Me EE roo was getting pretty bad and after 2 weeks of bootcamp he minds his manners.
Most are friendly but I did have 2 that were flighty. They tamed down after a few weeks of working with them. I was careful to choose a friendly leghorn for the mother. The combs aren't to high but taller than a standard peacomb.

I did an lavender am roo to a white leghorn hen. The offspring recently started laying lg blue eggs. Here is a pic of one. They all came outlooking the same.
Your chicks are the definition of an EE. Any mix breed blue/green egg layer. Many EE actually carry brown or white egg breeds as well. I would love to add such "pure" blue egg breeding to my EE flock.
No the collars didn't work for me. My 2 roos have been surgically decrowed. The bantam is almost silent and the EE is about 25% of full volume. There is a vet in Oklahoma that does it.
Thanks, I'm rather partial to him. I try to borrow roos for genetic diversity but I can't have crowers at my place without complaints. So I am stuck with my 2 "quieted" roos most of the time.
I have been very selective on my egg color(this year I borrowed a Lav Am roo for my hatch), also because people around here are used to hatchery birds any shade of blue/green/mint is considered blue egg.
I sell mine as "blue egg laying EE/ Ameraucana" to my locals. There are no shows around here and very few real breeders. Most folks don't understand/care about chickens breeds. They only know the feed stores and hatcheries sell them as Am. I try to explain the difference but they don't get...
In the last 2 days my broody hens (a frizzle and a silkie) have been busy. 6 EE chicks and 1 EE x Buff chantecler chick out running around. I've never used a broody to hatch before but I must say it's the way to go if you can. 8 eggs set and 7 hatched. Very happy. I'll get pics tomorrow if the...
Don't give up I have 2 white EE hens( whites are usually roos) and 1 hen with rust colored shoulders. Color isn't 100% for sexing chickens. A better shot of the back of the birds neck feathers wouild be helpfull. Also JackieandChicks is right multiple roos will often live together without any...
