    Try to put a little( nightlight ) in their coop and wait until full dark to check on them. The light will attract them. That is probably why they come up on the deck in the evenings, attracted to your light. I use a solar powered Christmas lights inside the baby coop.

    I think this is a broken blood feather- that is a feather that is starting to grow- the blood is still in the shaft until it fully emerges, if it is broken or cut at this stage it will bleed. I would clean it gently. I think the Vetrx is a good choice. Try not to get the bleeding started again...

    I have had similar problems with a Cochin bantam. I very carefully took small scissors and trimmed any feathers away from vent area.It did help with hang ups. By the way she has always been treated as a outsider by the rest and is last in peck order, but she lays and is very happy.

    You will need to wait until about 6 months old to be sure, but if you take a head on pic of just the face. So we can see the comb area we might be able to give you a guess and tell you what to look for.

    I live within a 3 hr, drive of Catdancesilkies, and I want to get more of course!!! I'm trying to decide if I want to try for all ready decided sex, color ones (part grown) or to hatch my own. I would pick them up either way. What do you all think?

    Paintedfeathers The only help I know to tell you is what I used on tiny little Green singing finches. I held them directly over a steaming tea kettle spout aimed directly at her vent, very warm just short of burning my fingers as I held her there. Sometimes I would have to do it several times...
