3 of the 10 new silkie chicks I just picked up yesterday
The blues I picked up last Thursday. They are in my garage until the barn is built. They are so easy.. made the pen out of recycling and garbage pails. Silkies do not fly well. haven't had an escapee yet!
Mr. Blue and his girl who is in terrible condition from breeding season.
Mr. White with his two girls (one laying in the corner) and Ivy who was dyed green for Easter for Jamie Carson's kids. She is grumpy and mad because she was trying to sit at Jamie's place and the move distrupted her. She's pouting here.. this is chicken pouting.
a close up. Can you see why we called her Ivy?
Mr. White. He has had his crest, beard, tail and legs trimmed. I have no idea why on the legs.. but he has potential. Hard to take a decent picture in our garage. Especially when the backdrop is hay.. I have since changed it to shavings.. Mrs. Blue kept eating the hay and I was worried about impacted crops.
I have since been gifted with 5 eggs from the white and blue (not Ivy).
I'm really looking forward to it!Those chicks are adorable!! Bet you can't wait to hatch those eggs.![]()
Hi, I hand turn mine I have a small Turn-X incubator that I used for parrot eggs. I turn at least 3 times a day and only that on days that I was working. Usually 5 to 7 times a day. I have had no problem with the 3 times a day, no deformed toes, that seams to be the worst that can happen with the fewer turns per day. even with eggs shipped across the country. How often do y'all turn y'all's eggs?
Good to see you getting more birds, and their beautiful!3 of the 10 new silkie chicks I just picked up yesterday
