here's a comparison picture of my pair. The pullet is just a little over half the size of the cockerel.
They will be fine hatching eggs. Just make sure the nest is safe for the new babies
my black roo is apparently a really dark blue. I'm still thrilled with my new addition, she will have a Cochin chick for a friend until some more silkies hatch tomorrow.
The rest of the eggs would appear infertile to me of they looked like that. I'd throw them away and give her the chick back. Just watch and make sure she accepts it back. She'll leave the nest with the chick within a day or so of the eggs being gone. The only reason she had stuck around is...
X2 on pics. I'm wondering if stripping shampoo might burn it's skin? I know I've turned tails purple with whitening shampoo in the horses and we just wash and rewash multiple times and it goes away. I dont know how much you can rewash without feather damage though.
These typically have a strip of fabric that wraps around the base of the wings to hold them on. Search google on how to make chicken saddles and people have uploaded directions for making them.
I think it looks like a pullet but in the 2nd photo it looks like maybe there are some streamers trying to grow in on the back of its head? Better pictures if you can catch it that are closer up would help.
