It wouldn't surprise me if that is how they turned out! I'm still hoping Brownie is a hen though!

Thanks! That was my suspicion as well. It kind of stinks since I can't have roos in my neighborhood, but I have close friends with farms. I will wait until he/she truly declares gender though...

Hello all. One of my silkies is crowing! But I don't know which one!!! I can't catch him in the act! I have and idea of the genders of my 2, but want your expert opinions please! ETA - they are approximately 11 weeks old. Here is Brownie: And here is Coco: Thanks!

    Silkie thread!

I wanted to post some pics of my babies! They are growing so fast!!! Coco and Brownie are now 4.5, almost 5 weeks old now. I still have a strong suspicion that Brownie is a boy, just based on his/her behavior. I'm really hoping at least Coco is a girl! I know it is too soon to tell for sure, but...

    Silkie thread!

Here are Brownie (larger one in back) and Coco (smaller up front) today - about 2.5 - 3 weeks old! I can't believe how much they have grown! I have a strong suspicion that Brownie is a boy, based on his very protective actions over Coco and his very upright posture when anyone comes around...

    Silkie thread!

That's good to know! The bigger one with the longer leg feathers is the more dominant one who sat one his sister all the way home and pooped all over her! The little one is the smarter one though...she's the one who figured out the nipple waterer 1st!

    Silkie thread!

I had to go look! On the bigger chick (thinking it's name will be Brownie) - they are a good 1/4 - almost 1/2"; the smaller chick (think it's name will be Cocoa or Coco) they are almost a 1/4". Now you have me curious...what is the significance of the length of the ankle feathers? Their feet...

    Silkie thread!

Just wanted to give an update this morning on my 2 new Silkie chicks that I got last night! I'm loving the premier 1 heat plate - they snuggled down under that & not a peep was heard! We had horrible thunderstorms all night & they slept through them. This morning I got them out from under it &...

    Silkie thread!

Thank you!!!! I don't know who is more excited...me or my son! He runs back to the brooder every 10 minutes to "talk" to them. I go back to "check" on them. I'm loving the premier 1 heating plate. They snuggled right down under it and not a peep! I am pulling them out & making them drink from...

    Silkie thread!

I just got home from picking out my 2 silkies! I took your advice & passed on the black silkie because it had a 6th toe on one foot. Not even just a little nub, a very large almost full 6th toe. It also had a lot of white in the beak. I took the younger, 2 buff babies. My son is in 7th heaven...
