I always know when a BYCer is selling birds at a show. They have something odd for sale at a wildly exagerated price. People pay $10-$20 for point of lay pullets no matter what it cost you to feed them. $25 is about right for a pair of Orloffs.
The Russians that were in the early Standards were not at all like the Spangled Russian Orloffs somtimes seen in shows today. The Russians were a black, rose-combed bird with dark slate shanks & a very different body type. They are, in short, two distinctly different birds.

Most of the Orloffs I see look like bearded Speckled Sussex. I see very few with the upright carraige an Orloff should have- see the Feathersie picture to see what I mean.
