Hello neighbor! I am in Lakeland. I have some cockerels hatched last month and some hatched last week. I have Cream Legbars, a blue frizzle Olive egger, Ameraucana (most likely EE, though) and an EE.
The neighbor has caught a couple opossums. And a friend caught an opossum that got into her coop. And she has a fox coming around, too. Always something, lol. :(
My neighbor let's her chickens free range during the day, evey day. There is a hawk around that often watches from afar. She said she hasn't had a problem with it.
Last year I lost a couple of cockerels to a hawk. Not fun.
I have 4 hens and just hatched out two sets of chicks that are now almost 2 and 3 weeks old. And I have 27 developing eggs in the incubator for the Easter Hatch Along.
That's awesome! I am going to have to go. But it is a 100 miles away, and to drive over there would be okay, but if they have to postpone the launch I would be very disappointed :(
Phenomenal launch for Spacex! I didn't see it for long from my front yard, as it was going away from me, but watched on my phone at the same time. I wish I had been at the Cape for it!
Did anyone else watch it outside?
Must rehome this pretty boy quick. He is an Ameriflower, 20.5 weeks old, mating and watches over the girls while they lay. I think he is a keeper, but I don't want to inconvenience my neighbors. Any one willing to give him a home? Lakeland
I agree with CMOM, Rural King stores usually have chicks year round. There is one in Spring Hill, Zephyrhills, and Lake Wales. If none of those are close, you can usually find chicks at a local TSC or other feed store in the spring and fall. Or you can order them, as dawg53 said.
Good morning, and brrrrrrr, lol!
I am in Polk county and have a FBCM cockerel, Murph, who is 12 weeks old. He is crowing and tidbitting the girls already. His hatch mate is an Ameriflower cockerel. Neither has shown any aggressive behaviors yet. I do not plan to keep them. PM me if you are...
