Had a swarm today that I was able to capture. I hope they like their new space but the hive they swarmed from is still bearding.
Just shoot me.
Here are some pics...

Well, we worked the bees on Monday and I wore my veil but this time I tucked it into my shirt.
I also sucked on cinnamon disc candies (the sacrifices we make! ) and things were fine.
If I am breathing out some banana smelling CO2 the cinnamon seemed to mask it because the bees were mellow...
I had bees last year that died over the winter because I put up a wind surround (I live in the mouth of a canyon) that kept them in the shade too much. I loved them to death. I worked them allll the time with no protection. If I was really going to be pulling a lot of frames or doing major...
I think my girls are building a queen cell. Would the best thing be to get a pic and post it?
How can I tell if they are going to or have already swarmed?
Ugh, I did not need this right now.
Any advice?
I haven't opened up my hive to do an inspection yet since our weather has been cold and horrible.
We have had a few warm afternoons and I have gone out and sat by the hive. Those soldier bees sure do a good job of checking out possible threats to the hive! They know when I am there and come...

I got my bees last Saturday. After peeking in Sunday I realized my wax foundations hadn't been embedded in the wax and were falling off. You may remember my "help, help" post.
I got the wire embedded and replaced all the frames on Monday.
I have left them alone hoping they won't leave...
I got my bees today. I ended up putting them where they will get quite a bit of sun but will be shaded in the evening, I think.
My friend is the one that offered to help get me started in bees. He bought 4 lbs of Italian bees and brought them and the hive over this morning.
He told me that...
I have a question. I am getting my bees on Saturday. We get a LOT of wind. The trees in my town all bend to the west because I live in a mountain canyon.
I had planned on putting the hive back under the peach tree. http://www.flickr.com/photos/87407543@N00/4542262878/ You can see in the...
