So my hatch ended on Sunday, but here's the chickies now!!
W/BW Ameraucana - Marked blue as it came from the bluest egg
All the chookies in the brooder!! - Jersey Giants, Black Copper Marans, Wheaten and Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas, and a Polish crossed Easter Egger!
The little white one...
Day 22 - Woke up this morning to a LOT of little peep peeps in there. . . My Polish chick finally hatched, but right now I have no clue which one it is. - It's either the blonde one or a black one that's still really wet and weak. . .
There are two more Jersey Giants zipping right now, and...
- I have a Bev Davis Marans egg pipping and a Wade Jeanne pipping now!! - Also, several Jersey Giants and Ameraucanas are also pipping.
2 Ameraucanas have already hatched, and one is SO sweet. . . S/he is quiet, friendly, and so curious. . . You peep peep at it, and it comes waddling on over...
I now have 5 pips and one hatch!!
Still awaiting some Marans to pip as well as my one and only Polish chick.
Edit: Here's my first baby of the hatch! It also came from one of the four bluest eggs.
ppsshh the photos are fine. We like Godzilla chicks.
I have a second pip!! One of Wynette's Jersey Giant eggs have pipped now, I'm so excited!! - I'm off to bed real soon but of course will wake up a lot to check on them.
I will post pics in a minute, but I'm too excited and must anounce that we have a pip!!! - From one of the Blue Wheaten Ameraucana eggs. It's a whole day early too!!
Lockdown today!!
I seperated all my Marans eggs by bloodlines, and seperated my Ameraucanas by bloodlines and egg color quality so I can tell the ones who hatched from the best eggs.
Sadly I dropped one of my Ameraucana eggs today, it was broken beyond hot wax repairing, and so I had to...

I drew them on top to remind myself and family members what eggs are good and what should be culled. Although today I'm going to cull again - Day 15 and I've had a blood ringed one for a while now.
I am new to incubation so can you tell me what you mean by "cull"?
thanks

Very pretty indeed!
what are the little black circles on the top for?
ETA:
Day 23-
5 black & 3 yellow in the brooder
2 black in the incubator, 2 large pips,
11 eggs to go.
Temp 100, Humidity 70%.
I have to go to work so will check again when I get home. DH made up a song for the...
Decided to candle a couple today - Turns out one of my big Bev Davis egg has a bloodring and two of the pullet Marans eggs are actually goners - Looks like they developed, but stopped somewhere sometime ago.
The rest are just fine though! Even my one EE x Polish. Looking forward to all the...

Ah, so then they're just plain EEs. Sorry, but Gabbard Farms sells EEs, not Ameraucana/Araucana crosses. . . There's a difference. They're using the same sales pitch Murray McMurray does.
Oh that doesn't matter to me as I want them strictly for adding some color to my egg basket...

Wait, how come your sig says you have EEs, but your egg is an Ameraucana x Araucana?
Anyway - I'd love to see the little EE when it hatches.
I cannot wait until I start hatching some Araucana x Marans. A different kind of Olive Egger.
The eggs in my incubator aren't from my hens...

I remember when my last chicks did that - They slept on the hygrometer. My sister asks me. "what's the humidity?" I laughed and said "sleeping chick percent. . . " You're fine though.
Today is day 11 for my eggs - I culled all the quitters and replaced their spots yesterday, so now I have:
15 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas
11 BBS Jersey Giants
10 BC Marans
1 WCB Polish x EE
6 BBS Ameraucanas
My hovabator, for the first time, is entirely full of fertile, developing eggs -...

If they do that early, it is often a problem with too high of a temp or humidity - It convinces the chick it is time to pip. I often hear this really isn't a good thing.
Great News! I'm only on day 7, but here's how the fertility is rolling out:
BBS Ameraucanas - 5/6
Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas - 100%
BBS Jersey Giants - 100%
BC Marans - 65%
EE x Polish - 30%
EE x EE - 0% - one had a bloodring, the others were quitters
To me, that is GREAT news. I'll be...
