My 3 Aussies are that age too. I got them the end of Sept. Mine are so sweet, shy, and are low in the pecking order. Hope they get more friendly.
I hit the button twice. I was trying to respond to another comment. I'm sorry for the confusion.
I have 3 pet quality Australorps (3 months) that I didn't hold as much as I should have. They run from us. As with any bird, how can I get them to accept us?
I just started my girls on fermented food. They seem to like it on the ground more than in a pan so I pit down grass and out handfuls of the food in seperate areas. I have 22 chickens and some get left out so this has worked out. I am giving it to them only once due to the many chickens. I may...
My 2 BA's are also 17 weeks but they run away from me. It is because they are the youngest of my 22 chickens, and when any other chicken just approaches them they run away. They spend most of the day huddled together sort of as outcasts. I try to get near them but they act wild, running around...
My BA'S are from the feed store and I would never think of eating them. I would certainly pay for your castaways, especially if you live anywhere near Sacramento to Placerville. There will be no meat, foul, or fish eating in Heaven.
I am going to try it stsrting next week. Our feed store has some really healthy grains in a 75# bag and I'd like to try. It will be easier than trying to find all if the ingrediants seperate. I love this thread!!! You are super neat people.
I would love to have some BA's even similar to yours. We only have hens here, just for eggs. We never eat our birds. Wouldn't even consider it. They will retire here and be buried here. I love your birds. They are beautiful. Thank you for the pictures.
I agree with you. I have two of these hatchery chickens and they are scared of everything, run away from us, and look smaller than the other chickens. The lady at the feed place says they get them by the 100's.
. I agree with you whole heartily. My EE's run around crazy chasing my lorps. Had I known I would have bought more lorps and no EE's. Love this thread, thank you!
