Thanks for the update, Kurt. We've been wondering about you guys! Careful out there.

Depends on the line. We had some aggressive cockerels which we had to rehome, and some docile guys. It really just depends on the line.

Quote: BA chicks are the CUTEST! Sounds like our Rhode Island Reds. Kurt wins the phrase of the day award. So sorry to hear that. We just went with hog fencing around the bottom, and poultry netting over chicken wire for the rest of the run, then bird netting over the top. So far so...

I agree. I love big doors on a coop for exactly that reason. If I were capable of building a sliding poop drawer/board, I would do that, too. Then I would situate the coop so I could just scoot the litter from the board to the compost pile. Best of both worlds.

Yeah, we got them from Kurt. And they are gorgeous! We have wanted them for so long. Here is a link to his classified. Nice framing.

Welcome, littlelune. :) We love our australorps. We've had Marans, Wyandottes, Welsummers, Rhode Island Reds, Rhodebars, Orpingtons, and Aussies and the aussies are my absolute favorite. They smoke other breeds in terms of looks, temperament, and noise. They are only second to our Rhodebars...

Okay, here are the pics. I did my best. BFM doesn't like being still or facing me, apparently. If these aren't right, I'll try again. Best "Top shot" I could get, but he's kinda turning to the side. :/ After reviewing the standard it looks like that one tail feather is...

Thanks, I'll get some more shots tomorrow. I don't think he molted this year. His tail looks odd, but we had a predator after him a few weeks back while they free ranged. If he did molt this year, it wasn't a heavy one. . Come to think of it, none of our aussies molted heavily this past...

Hey everyone! We have a flock of 5 Australorps(4 hens and 1 CB), and I was wondering about our boy. I think he's gorgeous, of course, but I was wondering what you guys would think. I am trying to decide if I should keep him for breeding. Feel free to build him up or tear him down. I'm not...

I would get my money back. That's completely unacceptable. I'd be nice, but I'd still ask for my money back, or at least a free shipment of eggs(packaged differently, of course). If they wouldn't go for either of those, I'd take it up with paypal or my CC company. Paypal is really good about...

X3 That's one of the best things about Australorps, to me: very quiet. Even our cock birds are quieter than any other breed we have had.

@RattlesnakeRidgeWV My, my, my. . . Those are some very handsome birds! After we get these BLRWs, BAs, and backyard crosses grown out, we are planning to contact you about some hatching eggs. Our first hatch went well.

Oh I like you. We have black widows all over our yard in the summer. I just killed two, a male and a female in my garden squash yesterday. The day before that I finally found one that kept building a web around the spigot on our well. Two weeks ago, one landed on my arm while I was laying...
