Ah, so it's not left wide open. That makes me feel better about my situation. I feel like their coop is dry enough. I feel cold, but not wet when I'm in there and their bedding is also dry. So hopefully things will be ok. Thanks!

My Odin, leghorn, has a spot on his comb that was darkening. I put some bag balm on it. Unfortunately the run isn't covered (or able to be b/c snow will weigh it down) so they keep going outside and standing in the rain. Next year I may do some work to to get some kind of covering over part of...

I didn't know Trader Joe's sold chicks! Oddly enough, my sebright bantam would lay 5-6 days a week. Someone else lays about every day, but IDK.. I just recognize the weird coloring on the eggs. I have 4 that are supposed to be 'production layers', 2 amber browns and 2 tetra browns. They will...

I've been seeing more feathers around the coop lately. My sebright bantam stopped laying and I'm seeing a bunch of her feathers, and I noticed some feathers from what I think is one of my eggers. My leghorn has been shedding feathers for a couple months already. Why would they molt when it's...

I have the 12, & the most I've gotten in a single day was 9 eggs. I have 4 eggers and I've gotten 2 green and 2 blue eggs, but not all on the same day so I know I have 10 birds laying for sure. What I don't know is if I have ladies who aren't laying everyday, or if I have some that just aren't...

I only have one aussie. A couple weeks ago I finally figured out which egg was hers after I caught her on the nest. Of my 12 layers she's only the 2nd whose egg I can identify. She's my favorite of the bunch.

My australorp that was born on March 13th isn't laying yet either, but I have 2 eggers that are 2 weeks younger that are laying and a Partridge rock that was also born on the 13th who is laying. My australorp (Loki) recently got red comb and waddle so I expect she'll start any time now. I have a...

I haven't dealt with this myself. But from everything I've read basically just keep taking the eggs and shooing her out of the nest. I've also read where people give them ceramic eggs or golf balls to sit on. Good luck! Hopefully you can break her.
