    THey are fairly rare in the US. I don't know about Australia. HOw long they live is the same as any other chicken.

    I find the SS more interactive than any of my other chickens. More like a companion dog.

    THis is why I favor the SS; our hens are right there waiting for treats while I weed. My son named one Grassgirl and she will jump up 2 feet for a treat. Egg #2 just went into the incubator.

    My girls in quarantine lay a very light egg. When the boys found it they ran it over to me to see. I know it is SS because, they are the only ones in the quarantine area!! LOL A nice pale egg. Of course I love ALL eggs! I love the OE too, nice shades of greens. Mixing blues with like a pale SS...

    Hi Cynthia, Very pretty pale pink egg! I love the speckles, very friendly girls. Finallly found a good rooster and a few particularly good hens came with him. THey are in quarentine and I'm looking forward to incubating a few eggs, especially as the summer heat has hit , its too hot to ship...
