Okie dokie, after much consideration and weighing all options, we decided more girls is what we need so we ordered six Khaki Campbell girls, one for each drake and one extra 'just in case' ... from McMurray Hatcheries and they'll be here the week of the 20th.
Thought we'd go ahead and try a...
I agree ... in fact, I'd prefer one or two drakes to four or five or more ducks!!! BUT, where can I get ducks now? The only other solution might be to fence the mating pair off on their own area, but then there's that possible coon problem. I really do want to do SOMETHING before she's...
Just an update and a question ... I should probably start a new thread and if no one answers me here I will.
Firstly, the two ducks left are both boys! DRAT! Now we have FIVE male ducks and ONE female duck and she is usually beaten and battered ... of course we know WHY ... not enough girls...

Well, I didn't want to say anything but since you asked, we had put them in a partitioned area of the chicken run where their papa and mama duck lived for years and where they were laid. They are full sized ducks now. However, a few weeks ago, within a two week period, something...
My miracle babies have been moved from their shed to the fenced off rooster run area where their mama and papa lived and where they got their start! Full circle! Eventually they'll be put in the big area with the other ducks, including papa duck, geese, goats and a few roosters.
I *think* I...
Oh my gosh what beautiful duckies!!!!! What FUN!!!!!!!!! Looks like you have a nice setup outdoors there! Do you have a pix of the setup? I might need some ideas!!
I would love to see pix and/or videos of YOUR babies!!!
Our house is usually about 70 degrees [thanks to the AC!] so I left the 100 watt light in there just in case. Many time, they still lay under it.
Here are two recent pix of our miracle babies! My friend calls them the Quad Squad! They are getting their butt and wing quills already!! The one is almost totally yellow which is usual for a Blue Swede I believe. They are in the kiddie pool in our house still [yes it is getting quite 'ripe'...

Yeah they sure are messy!! The kiddie pool is perfect. I just keep throwing in pine shavings. Like Kath said, they grow up SO fast, it's only a temp situation! I'm just totally in LOVE with my Miracle Duck Quads!!
Hey all!
Just wanted to post another video update of my miracle ducks! I am enjoying them so much and am SO grateful for the happy ending. Can't thank you all enough who helped me through this new adventure.
Hi all. Just a quick update on my miracle babies! Got another swim pix of them. The video will be on youtube within the hour.
They haven't taken a dive under yet. I think they are just starting to realize they can actually float and don't have to paddle like crazy all the time! I tossed...

My Meatbird food said it's good for all ducks, geese, waterfowl, chickens, etc. from day 1 onward. I blended it fine for the first few days, even added water to make it like a soup for a few days, but now they eat it straight up!
I think you're right about the three eggs. That's my 'gut' feeling now too. I think I'll just toss them. I don't want to know if there is or was a duck in there.
The babies would stay in their box inside the big bird cage when outside. They cannot get out and nothing can get in except some...
It was 95 degrees today and will be in the high 80s/90s for the next three days. Is it ok to put the cage with the babies outside since it's so warm, as long as they have shade? Just a thought.
Still no signs of life in the last three eggs.
Oh yes I watch them like a hawk!!! I put them on a towel one at a time and dry them a bit before putting them back under the lamp! They're my precious lil babies you know! QUACK! QUACK! Can't wait till they figure out they can go under the water!!!!
Yes I blended some peas yesterday for...
Hey all! Just took and uploaded two videos of my four duckies' first bathtime! Geez, I'm just like a new mom, taking pix, taking vids, goo gooing & fussing! Anyhow if you're still interested they are here:
The other three eggs are still in the incubator but there is no signs of any...
