Yeah they sure are messy!! The kiddie pool is perfect. I just keep throwing in pine shavings. Like Kath said, they grow up SO fast, it's only a temp situation! I'm just totally in LOVE with my Miracle Duck Quads!!

I appreciate your kind words on the loss of my mamaduck. Have you read the entire thread? It has a happy ending!

Here are two recent pix of our miracle babies! My friend calls them the Quad Squad! They are getting their butt and wing quills already!! The one is almost totally yellow which is usual for a Blue Swede I believe. They are in the kiddie pool in our house still [yes it is getting quite 'ripe' despite the pine shavings!], but they're getting too big to keep in here so this weekend they'll be headed to our outdoor shed with the same set up inside the pool until they are bigger. Then one day they'll be let out to join Papaduck and his new 'wife' and the rest of the ducks and geese and goats and chickens!

Well, they were born on May 19, 20 & 21 so .... 3 weeks old!!!

Here's two updated videos:

Man they are growing so fast. Mine are now 2 weeks old and no longer need the heat lamp. It seems that heavy weight ducks outgrow the lamp business much faster. Mine stopped laying under the light at couple of days ago. Even a 40 watt lamp was to much for them. So I took the lamp away and put up a baby night light. They scream without it at night. No huddling so I know they are fine without. They are still in the brooder in the kitchen, but 11 ducks are way to much for it. We started to let them play outdoors a week ago. They are in the aviary so I don't have to worry about flying predators. They spend all day outdoors and then come in for the night. Temps are between 60-70 degrees outside. Again no huddling so they are quite fine with cool temps. Weather has been crazy this year and we have a freeze warning for tonight. We will move the duckies out into the heated duck house in a few days. It has a dog door going out into the aviary. They will be locked up inside for the night, but the door will be open in the daytime. That way they can go in and out as they please. They still swim in paint trays when outside to avoid drowning. The two bigger ducks got a larger kiddie pool yesterday. They went in, played, went out, walked over to the old smaller kiddie pool, went in, went out and back to the new one. They have not been back to the old kiddie pool since. Kind of funny.
