Major bummer! I did eventually make it but didn't stay as long as I'd have liked (dh & ddwere with me and aren't as interested, the bums). I was super impressed with the gorgeous, monster-sized Cochins, adorable variety of bantams and the various other game birds there! Good thing DH was with me...

I'm having an issue and wanted to be at the fairgrounds already! Yesterday DH caught the bad neighbor's pup attacking one of my hens. She's ok minus raw skin from feathers that were torn out, but very traumatized. So I'm waiting around for animal control again :(

Ha ha ha, wouldn't surprise me! Need to make more room in my coop/shed! Or not....or, hmmmm!

Been away for quite awhile since I've started working outside the home again. Sounds like we all have chick fever! I have 8 3wk/o babies right now. I do plan on going to the poultry show on Saturday, but not sure DH will be too happy if I leave with more mouths to feed, ha ha! This will be the...

Unfortunately no. I currently have two little roos that I adore (JB and a Silkie). I will eventually get a standard sized one, but probably not until they are gone. I had luck putting extras in Craigslist before, but you certainly cannot be sure what will be done with them. I didn't list them...

THAT'S HALF OF WHAT YOU ORDERED? Wow, good for you!!! :-) Still debating on doing some meat birds again. If I can find Rangers I'd like to try them this time as the Cornish X were not enjoyable to deal with! I bought 8 more layer chicks (SLW, BSL & BO) hoping to have better winter output. Wish I...

Ordered hatchery babies will arrive at the feed store the 21st of this month! Gotta get things situated to manage twice the number I currently have!

Oh, the poor dear! I've had to get animal control out here too as one problematic neighbor wouldn't keep 4 GSD puppies from roaming all over. They ended up taking them at one point when I called again as they were on my property around my birds. But the people got them back and were roaming...

Getting super sick of the wind here! It threw off the 2 oak pallets from my goose/duck shelter roof that was holding down plastic (which was also stapled down) over straw. So much for that idea! Gladly, no one was squashed! Our weather people ALWAYS get it right about the wind coming but seem to...

fosterson, I need to look into how to do blown eggs. The goose and duck I have lay kinda boring cream colored ones but they have stopped laying right now.

Spring will be here before you know it so it's never too early to plan! With my bad health I should be working on that myself! It is so nice not to buy eggs, isn't it? Haven't had to do it this year, but last winter we went a long time getting only 3 a day from the Leghorns as everyone...

My goose has been sitting on her nest for a week now :/. The last two days the gander has joined her. This is not an ideal time of year for this silliness! They are hatchery Africans(?) and are not even a year old so I was not even expecting eggs until spring. Anyone with goose experience...

9trees, the set up I have was here when we moved in. The netting seems to be something like nylon. I wish I knew where they got it as it is pretty durable. We've been here 11yrs and it is still in good shape. The wood is another story :/
