Pixie i hardly ever candle the eggs when my hens are sitting. Nothing horrible about it. I know that when i let the hens do the work it all turns out well anyway.I have had hens incubate eggs over winter with near 0 degree weather. They can make it happen. Let us know how it goes.- icsd71

My gals do not like the snow much at all. They were ready to get out this morning with the better weather. Molt has been going on for a while and now I am down to about 4 eggs a day from 15 to 18 when the weather was nice. Hurry up spring!- icsd71

We had several half Silky and half barred rock. Talk about a funny looking bird. LOL I have silky hens but non of there eggs were fertile. The Silkie rooster seemed to like the barred rocks and Rhode Islands reds more.- icsd71
