My girls have been out every day. The cold is not stopping them, even though they don't seem to be to thrilled with the cold. I did move them into their new coop I built in the garage. But today was the first day I did not get a single egg! I left the garage lite on yesterday and today til 10 maybe I messed them up.

x2! In the summer I was getting 6-8 eggs per day. This last month I've been getting only 1-2 daily. Today was ZERO. Most are molting, but my 2 layers haven't started the molt. I'm hoping the ones that stopped laying in Sept will start up again soon. (I didn't add suppl. light, so I'm not sure.)

A move/relocation will almost always disrupt egg laying, possibly for weeks...

Also any daily light duration change in excess of about 30 minutes (plus or minus) from the previous day will usually disrupt egg laying for a few days...

It's best to only increase or decrease their daily light by 15 minutes each day, no sudden changes...

Thank you for the advice. I didn't mean to leave the light on that long. Hopefully, they will get use to the new coop quickly. I don't want to have to buy eggs from the store.

I don't like winter much to begin with, but now that it is messing with my chickens and eggs, I dislike it that much more. I just dread having to eat store bought eggs. How are your girls dealing with the cold while molting Faraday40?

5 degrees outside this morning, but they were still anxious to get out. The sun finally made an appearance yesterday, and I know they liked that. I did get my fewest amount of eggs yesterday, though. We'll see what today brings.

My gals do not like the snow much at all. They were ready to get out this morning with the better weather. Molt has been going on for a while and now I am down to about 4 eggs a day from 15 to 18 when the weather was nice. Hurry up spring!

Long story, but I had to let my fiance do the chicken chores for two weeks. Started back again and I have a broody hen with 13 eggs! The other girls aren't really laying at all. Is it the weather only or is my broody hen causing some of the egg-less-ness? Ugh, this is going to be fun. Snow and babies on the way!

If you have multiple nesting boxes the broody should not bother the others, unless they all used a single nesting box... If they were using a single nesting box, try putting a fake or real egg in the other nesting box to show them it's a safe laying location...

Although less light hours and cooler temps is probably what is disrupting the others egg laying, that or are they possibly molting?

Multiple nest boxes. Though momma is in the middle one and a bit snippy. No molt as they aren't a year yet. Must be the weather. I have considered lighting in the barn, but figure they need a bit of a break. With 11 hens I'll still have enough eggs for the family, I just won't share as much. (I can hear the groans from my neighbor already. LOL)
