Well glad you got that figured out! It does look a lot like a boy. Maybe she should send you some more eggs. He sure was a cute little chick. I just had 16 SFH's chicks hatch yesterday and today. They are doing great. I will post photos soon. I am officially turning off the incubator today...

I haven't be hatching eggs as long as anniesmom, but I have hatched pure SFH chicks with vaulted skulls and crested with out vaulted skulls. So far I haven't experienced any symptoms like that in my crested chickens.

Hello, Are these the eggs I sent you? How exciting! I know you have had a rough few weeks with the fires, you need a good hatch! As far as the dark legs, I know most SFH's do have yellow legs, but there is no "standard" since they are a landrace breed, just what is normal. I think there...

Wow 3 out 4 boys??? That is a bummer. My first "pair" ended up being two roosters. I think they are very hard to tell gender. Now some folks on here have said that they can tell at 4-5 weeks. I am not sure if that is the different lines showing up. How many crested did you get from me?

Congratulations! I have a four going into lockdown tonight. I have a hatch this week and next week... then I have to stop hatching. My DH finally stopped asking me when I am going to stop. It is good to know I am not alone and others are still hatching.

That is perfect watch dog. What breed of dog is it? Our Aussie is finally calmed down, but I still don't "trust" her. She likes to lick them to much.

Yeah, that is great news! My little incubator has been running almost solid since Jan. I am starting to loose that excitement. Maybe it is time for a break. I so love hatching SFH, because of all the different colored chicks.

They look great!!! I am so glad you are enjoying them. DH did a good job of collecting eggs while I was gone PA. After looking at your photos I am itching to hatch out a few for me.

I had crested in both my pink and purple bands. When I order my chicks, I couldn't specify crest or non-crest. I got four crested and six non-crested. Six females and four males. Two purple crested and two pink crested.
