most of us have our location under our avatar... and you may not always get a quick response, but never fear we will see your questions eventually. I'm only on here maybe 1x per day, sometimes not even that.

yes, your crested is likely a cockerel, so is the black/white one... one key sign, besides the wattles developing at 7 weeks old, is the darker red growing in on their wings/shoulders.

if the other breeds are NOT mottled, you'll be able to tell if they're pure, if they're mottled. so far I don't see any that look like potential candidates tho. a few look barred, but very different from the juvenile SFH. SFH are obviously mottled by that age.

as chicks they're a bit spazzy IMO, but they get over it pretty quickly once they go outside and realize where food comes from.

yes, they would probably look very similar. the ss has mahogany tho, so those chicks might be a much darker red unless your sfh carry mahogany as well.

I don't know about anyone else, but I sold only 2 dozen this year, I plan to hatch everything else now that I'm working on fixing the sportsman... the hatcher is in place now for the 3 doz I have set of Leigh's eggs. I've got about 5 dozen eggs ready to set of my own birds (sfh, dorking and blrw)

my SFH have just recently started pumping out the eggs! 6 girls and I'm getting 5 a day for the last 4 days! I've also got 6 in the brooder. 2 are nearly a month old, the others just over 2 weeks old. thought I'd post a cuteness pic... I had 4 teeny Serama hatch yesterday, but to keep them...

crested black boy over black and blue uncrested girls, the blue girls will throw 50% blue/black, the crested boy will throw 50% crested. nice ratio IMO. I lost both of my crested girls over the winter but still have my crested boy from the same breeding. currently tho my Blue is in with all...

TSC doesn't carry SFH... all I've seen so far this year are assorted mixed breed specials. red rangers, red sex links, California whites, etc. and assorted bantams, meaties and ducks.

I would honestly wonder about non-flowered birds being pure. mottling is recessive so both parents have to show it. if they don't you'll get a solid non-mottled offspring. if both parents are mottled, the offspring WILL have mottling. unless you need extra roosters to protect the girls you...

you mean like this? Weeble's silkie / ameraucana mix. what is your eventual goal? most things are not possible to solidify in just one generation of crossing. if you breed fav to sfh, you might get a crested (if you use a crested sfh) bearded and muffed, but also feather legged and no...

replacement value, not face value. to replace them you will likely need to travel or ship the birds. find a breeder with what you want and work with them to find out how much it will cost.
