I just hatched several small pullet eggs from TXFlowers. (It was kind of an experiment for me.) Every single one hatched and the chicks really aren't THAT much smaller than the regular egg sized chicks. I also haven't had to do anything different for them... At 5 days old they are playing...
I have no idea if it works with them or not... If I remember, some here had fairly accurate results from attempting to feather sex them a day or two after hatch, while some argued that the technique does not work on this breed. I kinda hope it does since I looked at all 28 of mine this...
As I was reading through the older posts on this thread, there was a couple discussions last year about feather sexing SFH chicks. Is everyone still in agreement that it usually works with this breed?
Final hatch count on my eggs from TXFlowers: 29 of 33 hatched. I had one fatality shortly after hatch, leaving me with 28 flower babies!
Thank you to all the posters in this thread who've talked about incubating techniques over. I read this thread through from the start during the last three...
I have my FIRST flower baby! It just hatched!!! Have several more external pips, so I may be waking up to a few more babies in the morning. Tomorrow should be a fun day. :)
So, yesterday was Day 19 for me and per several comments I've read on here, I waited until yesterday to put them on lockdown. (Though I have a Reptipro incubator, so "lockdown" is a relative term for me since my bator doesn't have vents and still has to be periodically opened for air exchange.)...
I candled all of my eggs from TXFlowers last night since it was Day 7 for my 39 Swedish flower hen eggs. Out of 39, I only had 4 clears and 2 early quitters (both due to hairline cracks that I knew about from the beginning). So, I have 33 little ones still swimming!!! I am SO excited because...
Thanks to this thread (I've been lurking), and to TXFlowers, I now have an incubator full of 39 Swedish Flower eggs (and 4 goose eggs). I just want you all to know that you are a bunch of enablers. ;)
But I am SO thrilled!!!
