I work in NLR and my husband works in Jacksonville so we are looking for a house with 5-10 acres no more than 45 minutes from NLR. We are on a budget too so that is not helping. I'm in the process of getting pre-approved for a home loan. Once that is settled then we will see about other houses...
Thanks Ridgerunner. I did contact animal control and they said livestock are prohibited and the poultry rules are ridiculous. Looks like the homestead search continues....
Hi ya'll! It's been a while since I have been on here. I HATE being chicken-less. But things seem to be turning around and my husband and I are looking at buying some property in Ward. My problem is I can not find any information anywhere for or against having chickens in Ward city limits. I...

Urban,
They don't make these things as easy as I would like, but if you fight your way through this you can look at the listings in the area you are looking at. I'd like to see a few more sort features to eliminate a lot of the garbage in there, but this is the best statewide I could...
Mornin Ya'll.
I know it's been a while since I visited this thread. Alot sure has changed. I'm needing some guidance from some fellow Arkansan poultry owners. Me and my new husban are looking to purchase some land. Anywhere in between Benton, Beebe, Hensley, that kinda region. If any of ya'll...
Hi everybody! I know it's been a while since I stuck my head into this thread. Gotta quick question for ya'll. I have been meddling into cheese making and I need some good raw milk. Dose anyone have a goat (or cow I don't really care) that is still in milk that would be willing to sell a couple...
I've been busy too. I'm getting married in October and we are looking for our first place. Sadly, It looks like all we will be able to afford is an apartment so my chickens may have to go for a while.
Hi everybody! It's been a long time since I've checked out this thread. Thanks for the advice on breaking Zoii from her broody-fit. She's back to her old self now( although she has not laid yet). I am looking to re-home my 1 1/2 year old EE hen. She has become far too aggressive for my little...

I agree. Wire cage, lots of light and activity. No nest box. Plenty of feed and water. Best bet is she stops, waits a few weeks and tries again.
Darn, she's my best layers too. I've been going out there and booting her off the nest box. She puffs up and gripes at me. I am afraid to...
Have fun at the chicken shows and congrats to everyone who was involved with the NPIP testing! I would love to go to one of the shows comming up, but Im pre-occupied with my garden and a very broody barred rock. Speaking of which, what's a good way to break a broody? (can't have any babies )
Zach called me today at work, tickled to dead that his RIR pullet we got last week laid her first egg. That snot made fun of me when I got all excited about getting eggs! I guess what comes around goes around, and in this case, its the chicken bug!

Crud, I didn't check me email until this afternoon or I would have hit you up on that offer. We left after 7 this morning to go. (I might have seen ya and not realized it) Me and Zach circled around the birds a couple of times. Mostly rooster and chicks. There were two sets that we...

Thanks, quarentine is the only reason I haven't tore down my little coop and I keep as far as I can from the big coop. "Far away" still isn't far enough for queen "B" Zoii though. I know she's gonna raise heck when I bring a new bird home. And this time, its gonna be Zach's birdy...
Is the Beebe Flea Market held every Saturday? If so, I want to take Zach and mabey get another bird. What should I look for (as far as health) in the birds they have? I wanna make sure I get a healthy chicken if I do get one but I have heard some not-so-good things about flea market birds. Im am...
Ya'll are loseing your minds too?!? Why dose everything all of sudden have to be done NOW? LOL, I have my garden tilled already although I think I killed some of my plants when I transplanted them. (I do not have a green thumb). Chicken are doing great. I have more eggs than I can eat! And now...
After Eva passed yesterday, Zach asked if we would get another chicken. I said yes, but probally not anytime soon. He then asked if he could pick out the next chicken. Suprised, I told him that if he found a breed he liked we would see. Well, he's already found one and his heart is set on it- a...
