They are all beautiful. Love the babies. In regards to your olive egger with feathered feet, parents were probably a Marans roo x Ameraucana hen or a CCL hen that is why the egg was a blue green. There is probably another combo I am missing. The chick (if a pullet) will lay Olive eggs. Your...

LOL,I don't think they can grow that fast. I remember hoping the one that didn't develop his wattles yet was a pullet, he was a bit smaller than the other also. But the combs said it all. It was like they were on steroids, but it was actually organic feed. So I can see why everyone is saying...

I hatched out some BCMs before these, maybe you remember them. I purchased the eggs from a small breeding farm and 2 cockerels hatched. They both had side sprigs, I didn't even know what they were, but when I posted photos on this thread, someone noticed right away. I was grateful. But, I was so...

The black one has color coming in on his wings and neck, so I am sticking to cockerel. He was very small at hatch compared to the blue, so maybe he is just late developer, but he is catching up.

I am worried about the collar also, but I figured I would give it a try, if he is a constant crower like my CCL. I live in Chicago, so my little flock has only my yard to free range in where I can keep a close eye on him. If it seems to be causing any kind of distress, I will remove it. I am...

It will be a while before I can use it. My pair is only 8 weeks old, but I will let you know.

I just ordered one. I have a pair of Blue and black marans. I want to keep him, so this is my only option. I tried keeping my CCL roo, but the neighbors children told me he wakes their dad up. So he had to go. Then I found out about the collar. I am going to give it a try.

Here are some pics of my BBMs. I think the Blue is a pullet? and the black is a cockerel? I think they are just beautiful either way. They are about 8 weeks old and just moved them outside. The black cockerel has some copper coming up in his hackles now. What do you all think?

Oh, I am so sorry. But I would agree with Bamadude necropsy would be probably the only way to know.

I think Mocha works for both boy or girls. I also have 2 BBMs that are about 6 weeks old and I also have 1 week old hybrids, but I haven't put them together, to much of a size difference. I think I have a boy and a girl, but who knows. My last hatch of BCM were both roos but thought the one was...

Do BCM cockerels develop faster than Blue/black marans? My first hatch of BCM, I ended up with 2 cockerels and very quick comb and wattle development. My second hatch of Blues/black, are six days shy of a month old and in comparison to my BCM at the same age has very little comb and wattle...

I went n used a shoe box n place a 60 watt light bulb on the inside then cut a hole on the side. It worked OK then I realized I had the flash light app on my phone. It worked beautifully. Apparently I am still struggling to use the phone to post on this site though between auto correct n trying...

My first Blue Copper Marans hatched this afternoon Day 21! It was also the darkest egg out of the 3. I also did the low humidity between 30-40% and bumped it up to 60-75% at lockdown. Also hatched standing upright. Was very nervous. Hopefully, I will get a hen out of this hatch!
