Maran folks. I posted in another thread about my Maran chick who has weird not right feathers on his/her wings. If you feel so inclined I would love to have your opinion in that other thread. I know enough about birds (with what little I know.LOL!) to know its not right.

I just got 5 adorable Maran chicks from Renee today. (ChooksChick) They are the softest chicks I have ever petted. NOw heres hoping that at least 3 of the 5 are girls. All 5 would be great but not counting on that.
Our Cuckoo Marans has stopped laying like that, we did end up treating her for mights-she is also missing feathers and we are thinking that she is molting and around 10 months old.
That sounds about right. Mine molted for two months right about that age - - - I didn't see too many missing...
Finally got a couple good pics of my Maran. He is a huge dude! We finally moved them to their new pen and we had to carry him. My husband did it with 2 arms around him.
What do you all think? He looks like maybe too many points on his comb, isn't it supposed to have 5? What about the rest of...

Debbi, we are here in Missouri too. I went out and put a heat lamp in the coop last night. Not sure I needed to it was surprisingly warm when I opened the door. I ran out and peeked my head in this morning and they were all still doing great. I also go a heated waterer going so that is taken...
