Actually I found and forwarded this article from Backyard Poultry Magazine which mentions the lacing as desirable but "difficult to get right."

Thanks. The person I got them from knows what they are and told me they are from Greenfire lines. Someone else told me, based on the same photos I've posted here, that they are not Marans.
So there's nothing to her comment about the "lacing?"
Hey guys,
Let me chime in on the thank you for the help you give newbies here. I am not trying to breed my birds but do like to know all I can about them. I really appreciate the time you take to respond.
I've just been advised by a local that there is no such thing as a Blue Copper Marans...
Thanks. I'm not going to breed, I just am curious about my chickens and I like to know as much as possible. Also want to be able to pass on good information when I rehome the boys.
Thanks again!
Mandy
Thanks for your reply. No yellow in the legs at all. They do have quite thick feathered legs, though. I'll see if I can take a photo.
How long until they start crowing? They need to move on before then.
Can anyone tell me about the quality of these 8 week old birds? I bought them as day olds from a BYC-er who says they are Greenfire lines by way of The Garry Farm. I have to rehome the roos so it would be nice if I could have good things to say about them as potential breeding stock (as opposed...

Last time I checked, I was told pretty unconditionally that all three looked like roos. They were four weeks old, I think, all with early comb development. Two have got big pink combs now so that's done but one has a...
DMRippy, I appreciate your experience here so I'm just double checking as I'm about to give the birds to a 4H kid who swears they won't be food. Is there any chance that any of them might be pullets? If there's a hair's breadth chance, how long should wait until I can be 100%? I will still...
And here they are at nearly five weeks:
Alleged roo 1
same guy
alleged roo 2
same guy
alleged hen - no black feathers at all. (weird?)
same girl, nice comb and waddle. Also bigger than the boys, right from the start.
boy left, girl right. If you look closely at girl, a tiny speck of...
Hi everybody,
I'm a newby with twelve chicks. Three are BCMs I got from A BYC member who hatched eggs she got from the Garry Farm.
I've been feeling confident that I had two boys and a girl, as one very quickly grew pretty tail feathers and long wing feathers while the other two are only now...
