There is something so unique about eggs. I never get bored collecting them and just marvel at the little packages of protein that a bird produces. And the variety of shapes, colors and sizes. It is so nice to feel joy about collecting eggs.

Quote: Amen X2 Hello my name is Mary and I am 66 and worked or tried to work all my life as a registered nurse. Talk about waste. The "health care INDUSTRY" is the worst! And I'll quit now because this subject gets me crazy. And nobody want to hear that .

Totally off topic but I have heard that in NYC you can feed, clothe and furnish your apartment by picking the trash. I guess it doesn't matter where you live in US, Canada or Europe, there is a lot of waste in society. I used to live in WV, you wouldn't see folks shooting pumpkins there, or at...

Quote: Holy cow! Between you and Susie, you guys get some great deals! Pumpkins here, 2/$9.00, and these are probably 12 pounders and less. I want some pumpkins for the chooks, but not at that price! I do have an opportunity to pick up some after these folks have their annual "pumpkin shoot"...

Did you see the second picture that I just posted. And anyway I just plan to use her for Olive Eggs in the future. But would you look at the next picture of a 10 week old splash and comment on it. I do realize that this bird may be a bit young. Is it a pullet ? Quote: Hey thank you for...

Quote: Please understand you can breed your poultry any way you would like. This blue female has one of the worst Combs I have ever seen on a Marans and I have seen some bad combs. She for sure has a SPRIG and mostly likely a Carnation. I believe that anyone that owns a breed of poultry has...

Skylinepoultry I have not visited your site but will do so to look at you birds. I guess that you do have some of them thar Langshans. I have never considered them as I have only just decided to increase the number of breeds that I raise. It is very hard to narrow down choices since so many...

I just looked up Langshans on feathersite, seems to me that they would be even more difficult to work with. 1. Not easy supply of birds 2. body shape entirely different, legs much longer, many are U-shaped, short back/ higher tails, 3. not all of them are feather legged, I am not one of the...

Hello Illia I have a blue hen that is rather stout in build and was hoping that the little splash posted back a few pages was male so that I could propagate blue Marans flock. But most say that she is a pullet. But if I do find a splash male or even a blue wheaten...................Could I...

One additional comment on Standard..........when folks in this country are working toward a standard, they are working for an accepted US Standard of Perfection, not European, South American or Australian.

''Honestly? (sheepsh) I was planning to just breed to a certain quality level (not show but try to keep it true with egg color being the priority and looks second) and sell them in my area. "Flower ~ After quite a few really bad hatches here, I tried the dry method. The thing I found with too high a humidity, is that the chicks get too big in the shell, then when you bump the humdidity up, (I used to go to 65% or higher), the chicks ended up drowning in the shell. The last Marans...
