I just went downstairs to look at the wings of the marans chicks... two are all black, one is showing beautiful copper on the tips, but 3 have white primaries. Is that strange?

I know some of these are of the same chick, sorry about that. Also, one has prominent white feathers coming in on the wing tips. Is this normal? It's the one with the yellow feathering down the leg.

I think that we may never get rid of the gene completely as there will be no way of knowing who has one copy of the defective gene in their little gene pairs.....but then again I am not a chicken scientist, so I could be way off base and maybe there is a way to single it out and eliminate it...
