You are right...I know lots of people who have dachshunds that do not mess with their chickens, and I have one that goes straight for anything - chicken, duck, cat. It isn't one size fits all when it comes to chickens. I have only had chickens for a year and still consider myself a complete...
My chickens are on strike too... No eggs from Red who was laying pretty consistently and then, just stopped about 5 weeks ago. My other two should have started laying and haven't yet. I guess Red was molting, as there were feathers all over the coop.
We have just an A frame coop that is wood...
What about your gallbladder? Mine was so bad a cup of chicken broth and crackers sent me into an attack. I never realized how much pain I had all the time until I had mine out. Sounds like it could be gas pain too. Sometimes that is worse than anything!
I just got a message from "miss Lydia" and she told me they were muscovys and probably about 2-3 weeks old. They are so sweet!! Just sitting on my lap hanging out in the beautiful weather we are having right now!!!
Thanks! I will look for her! The water wasn't very deep and the could touch the bottom. It is too chilly for them outside right now so I have them inside with a heat lamp on them. They are just cheeping all day!
These babies were "found" by someone and they called me since I have chickens. Lol! I don't know what to do with ducks. They were muddy and cold. I don't know how old they are, they have a few tail feathers but their wings are so small!!!
I let the baby ducks play in the bath tub last night to get some of the mud off of them. Them I gave them a little chicken feed soaked in warm water. They ate it all up!
I have become the crazy rescue lady. Someone called me today about some abandoned baby ducks. Any one have any clue what kind these are (besides muddy?)
Wildworks - I noticed you were from Hamilton, my dad's family is all from Hamilton!
I don't like snakes at all...as long as they stay away from me, I have no problem with them! They are pretty and I don't mind looking at them when they are just doing their jobs (or behind glass).
It is a wonderful day here in Dallas!!!! I am sitting on my back porch and just having a great day!!! Letting foster dog out to play so my chick chicks are in their coop. They aren't complaining too much. :)
I think I might wait until the spring. Let the three that I have left earn their keep a little while. Although Red, has been slacking. She has not laid an egg in almost a week. Not sure what is up with her.
This is the only one that has actually gotten sick. The others have all been victims of dogs/animals. The last four chicks I bought came from a breeder lady in Terrell...(she has quite the setup! look her up thechickenlady) I believe that she said they were vaccinated.
