So after the horrible hail storm we had in Fort Bend County Texas, I have tallied up the approx number of dead birds(not chickens) we found. Close to 100! Those poor things were plummeted with golf ball size hail! Probably should have bagged them all up instead of tossing them in the pile with...

Not sure if anyone is thinking about ordering chicks in the near future or not! I would advise against it! After waiting on my worming medication since January 9th, I went to find out what in the world was taking so long, and what I learned was shocking. If you are not aware of the major USPS...

Ok, thanks, I was looking into the thicker clear vinyl on the internet, and thought about it. I hate the tarps that I can’t see through. It make it so dark in there. I realize that I only use it a few days out of the year, but I am weird when it come to dark dreary coops. To me the more natural...

Good morning, right now it’s 17* and according to the weather channel it’s “Breezy” 18 mph winds. granted nothing like last nights Breeze! ‘These are the only times that I regret open air coops! Granted not too many days like this! Anyone on here have a source for clear plastic tarp that lasts...

Thank you, yes we also have horses, and the dog got them all stirred up. I think that may be why my husband had to scare it off with a few shots in the ground versus at the dog. Didn’t want to aim at the dog with the horses anywhere close. We free range the chickens, and I am aware of the...

Normally I would not hesitate to postpone, however I already ordered them. For the last 2 weeks we have had a visitor (aka stray dog) decimate the flock. For the first visit we never saw the dog, however the second time it returned my husband saw it, and saw how it got through our fence...

Anyone here in texas order from Privet hatchery lately? I usually order from Ideal hatchery, but they seem to be out of every breed I want. I looked and it seems the next closest hatchery is Privett in NM. Anyone have experience with them? if so do you remember how long the chicks were in...

I couldn’t agree more! My horses, chickens, dogs and children are not to be messed with!! I had a stray dog come into our front yard while I was taking kids to school. It killed a few of our chickens that snuck under the fence.(fence is really for the horses) I am still on high alert for that...

Thank goodness I finished shredding the field!! Looks like I won’t be able to do much outside for awhile!! At least the rats and mice can now clearly see the coop and take up residence!😂

Hey there, Just a quick question... Are these the same flowers you are talking about? I am just curious because after shredding about 3 acres I came across tons of these flowers. I always thought it was more of an (pretty) invasive weed, however it looks exactly like this picture.

Actually I agree with Texas Kiki about Houston News! Not surprised at all. My parents used to live in highrise, and often witnessed the recycled trash being thrown into the truck with regular trash! We all know, there was no one separating it at the other end!

Nothing like a good early start to the day! It's nice outside now, but the scorching heat will be here soon!

Yes, I agree! With having to make an emergency move for the chickens and all, I was not able to completely finish the new coop before we had to evacuate them from the other location. So my plan to have 6" of sand inside the coop never happened. Then as you are aware of, rain, rain, more flooding...

Wow, it better be magic for that price. Does it treat all worms? What is so special about it I wonder to warrant that price tag?
