Welcome! I lived in Joshua for 7 years until retiring in December 2013. I didn't have chickens there though. I see a few on here from Burleson and Grandview, probably some from Joshua too. Great place to get chicken questions answered, and just lots of nice people!
I hope that works for you and you can keep your girls. I love living in the country - I'd rather have a neighbor who lives in a 20 year old camper than have an HOA.... Oh wait, we ARE the neighbor who lives in the camper... :)
So, after 22 hours with the rooster up the tree, I googled how to get rooster out of tree. Answer was to get water hose and spray him until he flaps down. It worked. Then we caught him and put him with the girls. He strutted, ate, drank, and mated with two of the girls. Then this time at dusk...

What kind of chicks do you raise? I started out wanting 12 red stars for eggs, ordered those and six black stars that are coming May 19. In the meantime I have bought six red sex links and 4 silkie chicks from tractor supply. Planning my second coop now.....
Harley, you absolutely are the winner, top of the class, straight A student, Honor Society, in Chicken Math! This is awesome. Look forward to seeing how your chicken venture plays out. I, too, would love to see chickens supplement my income more than just egg money! Congrats!
Hoping someone can help with a couple of questions. My 7 week old gals love going outside in the pen; however, they don't stay there long. When I go back inside, they go back in the coop. then if I come back outside, they run outside like they've been waiting. Is this just because they are...
