Oh my...People who aren't chicken owners don't usually realize how much money can go into them. I don't think she'll see that much either. She'll be lucky to get 10% of that and that's if she has receipts for everything..
Thanks for all the great responses on the guinea. It helped in my decision. I think I'm just going to keep them in my coops an runs if I do get them, at least till I'm done in the garden. Maybe they'll keep snakes down in there at least. I'll have turkey though...maybe they'll do as good a job...
We do too...but they are the only "veggie" my oldest son will touch...gonna do a lot of pickeling and canning this year I guess...on another note...this might be interesting to watch for anyone who has ducks or any fowl at all for that matter...
I sure hope they only go for the bugs. In the past, the bugs have always been my biggest problem in the the garden. Our dogs run off all the deer...cows are fenced though...Our dogs only rarely take care of the snakes though :( ...
Thank you! I'm sooo hoping they are beneficial by just eating the garden pest instead of destructive and eating my garden. We live by a creek and a pond so we have many snakes and of course the ticks. I don't really want to put up an electric fence though, cause I want to have my lil one in the...
Hey Carson, your link works. That is something that I have been wanting to look into...thought it would be more complicated so I put it off. Where do you get your Barley seed from? How much does it cost? How many pounds are in the bags. Sorry so many questions. Thanks!

Hi! I have Bantam BBS Ameraucana PURE. I don't have any chicks or pullets at the moment, but I can sell you eggs if interested. I will be setting some eggs for chicks soon.
Our local one here in Waverly and the one in Dickson. I get chick feed for the higher protien. I have bantams and they snuff there noses at the pellets. It's $17 and change at the Co-ops here and it's $16-$17 for 50lbs a TSC. I get 20 %. In fact, I have found just about everything to be cheaper...
We use Dumor as well...it's a little less than co op but supior in quality. Co-ops feed gives my chickens the runs and they all act as if they're still starving when fed the same quantity.
