I've been following this too, so sorry it didn't turn out how we all expected
Just keep the thought that she is in a new home with lotsa lil fuzzy ducklings, and that maybe once they've grown up and don't need her anymore she'll wander back.

a friend came in today to tell us the scovy girl I hand raised for their kids that went missing, has been found sitting on a nest of fat eggs - theres still hope for scooter!

My scovie was a bit confused as a first mum, i think thats the best way to put it. She had trouble controlling her ducklings and being a mother 'figure' .. after more experience she's perfect now, but if scooter is a newbie she may still be getting...

Oh, and don't forget! Muscovy ducklings take a lil while to hatch, plus they stay in the nest for a day or two and depending on how far away she's taken them, there may be a treck
Being broody does seem like a possible answer -- my hen laid her first at 6 months, became broody and hatched ducklings fine. I've also heard tales of inexperienced hens trying to hatch anything and being content with a small nest...when my scovie gal was desperately broody she spent 3 or 4...
