    Chickens need around 14 hours of light to lay. Your pullets probably got to point of lay when there wasn't enough light.

    I have a couple of BCM cockerels 4 weeks old and they are HUGE compared to any other breed I raised, including Jersey Giants. Not sure how big they will get, or whether I'll keep them that long (too many cockerels this season).

    Thanks. These four were just a "find"... 15 dollars for the four no background info... impulse addition to my chicken math. A week later my set hatched and I have 7 more black copper marans, though some looked blue. My plan was for brown eggs and to create some oliver eggers with my legbars.
