Can't speak for others, but personally I have ZERO interest in trying to change showring WP, for a lot of reasons. 1) near-zero interest in competition. 2) no money to do it at that level even if I wanted to. 3) awareness of the complete futility of showing up with a correctly but...

You're right. You did. And mostly I stayed out of it until that gay crack that somebody made. At that point my resentment of the attitude of a lot of dressage people just spilled over into this. I have been slammed so many times because of the attitude that "I can't possibly know...

People have been using horses for thousands of years. We've used them in war and commerce, working stock and pulling carts. What you are claiming as "dressage" was actually cavalry training to fight war more efficiently, I'm thinking. Humans didn't start to think about the riding of...

well there you go. you just said yourself that dressage is the essence and basis of training and ridding. so dont be the teeniest bit surprised when people adapt and use parts of it for their own disciplines to get work done lol.
Im not, that's what i WANT, but to manny people just...

I would LOVE to ride WP on a nice horse, and ect, and actually thats WHY I am riding dressage.
And there is no reason why any horse cant do anything, its just the matter of how it was raised an training, and true there is a certain extent where they can't physically do it any more due...

This is so very true. But babyblue, you shouldn't say that out loud. Y'see, since you are not a dressage person, you cannot possibly know anything about horses. Personally I never admit out loud that I've read every dressage book I can get my hands on to see what someone else might...

It takes years of training and riding dressage to even understand a little bit of it and use it in other disciplines. Balance, smoothness, and collection isnt something someone can just read and know, It must be felt and it dosn't happen the first time you have a lesson with a dressage...
It is! lol
Wels, you hit it on the nose! So manny think they know dressage when they dont, i dont' claim to know alot or be a trainer, but i know enough to spot a phony. It's sad because someone can just jack their horses head in and say they are doing dressage.

LOL. When me and my (female) friends are at shows we scope out all the guys, and then they try and get me to go find out if they are gay/bi/staright for them, LOL.

Yes I made a generalization. But it's true! Horses have to be able to pick up their front end to bring their hind end underneath them to collect. This can't happen if the horse's head is low they need to raise their neck and head. There is a reason why dressage horses a built like they...
I think the most exaggerated of disciplines we have is TWH, let's not go there.
And I agree with Welsummer, Vaquero are pretty awesome.
Oh and I think there are very few people that respect the curb bit. Curb bits can do so much to a horse! I took fee out in my single gointed western curb...
So yeah, like the subject says, I know that sounds weird.
I rode western pleasure for 4 years and still have been just not at the same caliber. When I first started riding I rode QHs (Western Pleasure) my trainer had shown up and down eastern side of the us showing, she even had some horses...
