Well...I have been a member of this thread since the beginning...made a great deal of friends which makes this so very hard.
It has been tried to discredit me as a breeder which is really sad because I have worked very hard on my farm. But...I am tired and feel it is time to move on as others...
You should see my little 6 mo. old SG roo. He keeps grabbing the girls by the crest and this does this little wiggle dance. He is getting the idea just can't put the 2 together..it is quite funny!
When eggs are first lain they are a bit pliant. I don't know if that lets the color penetrate better or not. Sometimes colored eggs will vary in color shade. Maybe the glands are more up in the chicken than the site I was reading mentioned. I know a lot of my maran eggs would have scratches on...
Ok...here is your "Did you know...for the day"
Did you know.....that eggs are white while inside the hen. The color is added by glands at the entrance of the vent. So when a hen lays the color is added as it leaves the chickens body.
Try a 3 inch layer of crusher run and on top of that put 5-6 inches of sand. Make sure you have something built around your run so the rain does not run it out...like mine did. My boundary was not tall enough and it rain over the top. I lost about $90 of sand washed out into the grass. Believe...
@Contrast....my son and his fiancee took her girls to that one last weekend. They all loved it!!
OK...I am going to start something for us here on the thread. I try to be on every day but every now and then I miss a day. OK...there will be a "Did you know...." posted each day here on the...
Welcome to our thread OrangeJuice! You will really enjoy getting to know everyone here..all you lurkers...talk to us. Just teasing...really..our little group is very active and you will have to make plans to join us a one, or all, of our picnics this year. It is nice to get to meet the people...
Hehe,...yeah...it does sound strange to say. I have horses but they are really weathered (muddy) right now. I will have a baby foal end of April!!
I think AJ may have bought some lately. You may want to message him to see if he has extras. I am going to order some but will be a couple weeks. If...
You can take a dog kennel and put food inside it letting them eat for a few days. Maybe even move the kennel a foot or so each day. When you get them to a place that may be easier to catch up,,you can set the door with a string and pull shut. I use to catch feral cats this way..but hold on to...
Again...it is not healthy for a dog to be fed or permitted to eat raw meat! It does not mean "quality" meat or eggs makes it OK. This disturbs their digestive system and is not a healthy practice! Please do not keep insisting people do this as it is not good advice to those new to having their...
I have bamboo which I cut one down and strip it all but about a foot at the end. It makes a huge extension of your arm and you can shoo them with it. I just rustle it on the ground pushing them towards the area where i want them. I call mine the "Chicken Chaser" which is about 7 foot long. I...
The only downside is if they quote someone or someone quotes them...there they are. I wish it blocked completely but at least it does the majority of posts which is worthwhile.
There are quite a few people who have bantams here...I am sure someone can help you out. If you are waiting til end of March I will probably have silkie eggs available which do well with children. Others here have Belgium D'Uccles, Seramas as well as other smaller breeds. Glad to see a new...
What kind of incubators do you have to sell? I need to replace one of mine. I have a few silkie eggs...but would only be 6 or so in order to stay within the 7 day age unless others start laying soon. Wow an OVA....I am so jealous!
DH got me a Brinsea Ecoglow...I love it!! No light bulbs and so...
Shilo was with out other dog, Jake in the field with DH and a worker building fence. He was in his 4 wheel drive. They started to go to another section when our neighbors dog came running after Shilo which scared her. She ran under the truck right under the wheel. DH called me and I could not...
