I'm new at "incubating" but from what I've read after day 7 fertility declines. Some on BYC say 10days you are still good...you also need to have the storage of the eggs in the correct temperature and with the skinny point down. Put "egg storage" in the search area of this site and you...
Well...I had read some saying day 19 and day 20 they had hatches....so was playing it safe. However....from what I have read...even if they started pipping and zipping tonight...it seems likely they would hatch out on April 1 and I DID sign up for April hatch contest. Like I said before...I am...
This is day #20 for me...I originally thought it was day 21 but found out that the first day is 24 hrs. after loading the eggs (March11) so that puts Hatch day at April 1. So far...no pips, or zips so looking like I will have April Hatch...if I'm lucky. I'm hoping anyway for 8 blue orps to...

Quiltnchik...you have the Brinsea...so I'm curious as to why you set the humidity at 71 Rh? I am just going by the book that came with my Brinsea and it recommended 65RH for hatching. I have the Octagon Advance EX....what does yours say...how did you decide to go with 71?? Maybe it...

Well my Brinsea has the auto water reservoir...which is nice so I don't have to use a sponge or water tray or open up to add water. The book just said Poultry hatching RH....65. No minimum ..no maximum. I have read other sites on BYC that said 70% but not in my instruction book that...

My humidity was right at 71%, but of course jumped when the chicks started hatching.

Brinsea users....my incubating instructions call for RH to be 65 for hatching. I just did "lockdown" and set it for 62. I keep reading of the "mushy" chick thing where humidity is too high. Having it set on 62 it varies from 60-64 or so...what do you Brinsea incubator users like for your hatch...

Hi uploading pics to BYC is different. Go to https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=504 for the instructions. Note posting to a BYC thread such as this one, and posting to a BYC page are done differently.
Thanks. I didn't realize that and will check it out!
OK...
Bordergurl...I may not be able to enter my pictures if/when my chicks hatch. I have been "practicing" trying to cut and paste photos on my "page" and I can upload fine but my browser Google chrome tells me to enter with keyboard shortcuts my url for the photo and when I did that on my "page" I...
Question:
It looks like some people are putting down shelf liner...the rubber kind...in the bottom of the Brinsea for hatching. Is that safe? Also....I think I read to take out the divider bars and foam at lockdown. Correct? My lock down is March 30...I'm going to take the Brinsea out of the...

Bordergurl...I have a new Brinsea Octogon Advance EX and I set my eggs on March 11th...I would like to join the contest in case they hatch March 31st....is that ok? If so...please add my name to your list. Thanks...this is my first hatch (hopefully) and I have 11 in the bator with 3...

Stacykins...I have 11 in my bator now...due to hatch on April 1st if I don't count loading day (March 11 6am) as day 1 but as March 12 as day 1. So I signed up for the March contest and would like to do the April contest also...I will be getting 24 more eggs to hatch in April. If you...

That is too bad. I'm doing my first ever hatch in my Brinsea this month...due to hatch March 31. What do you think went wrong? What was your temp and humidity ranges?? Is this your first time also? I'm a nervous wreck ..have candled 3 times and thought I'd do another on day 17 also.....
