Did you candle prior to going into lock down? I didn't (because I was on my way out of town last Friday), but if I had I would have pulled 8 of them that had expired somewhere along the way, so 17/17 viable eggs hatched = 100% hatch!! I'm thrilled with my new Brinsea 20 ECO!

My humidity was right at 71%, but of course jumped when the chicks started hatching.
Quiltnchik...you have the Brinsea...so I'm curious as to why you set the humidity at 71 Rh? I am just going by the book that came with my Brinsea and it recommended 65RH for hatching. I have the...
Just an update on my hatch. After candling last night when I didn't have any new pips, I found that if I had candled before going into lock down, I would have had 17 eggs (out of the original 26, one of which was pulled a couple weeks ago) make it into lock down, so I HAD A 100% HATCH in my new...
Here's my entry. They started hatching yesterday while I was gone, and by the time I got home today, 16/25 were hatched! I pulled them and put them in the brooder to give the remaining 9 room to hatch. I have 14 Silkies and 2 barnyard mixes so far
Here they are right after being put in...
First hatch - 15 B/B/S Silkies and 10 barnyard mix - in my new Brinsea 20 ECO and I just went into lock down!! It's a few hours early because I have to go out of town and won't be home 'til Monday, so I'm hoping my husband and son paid close enough attention and won't mess this up. Wish me...

Mine are on lockdown and my whole thermometer/hydrometer is in there!!
How many eggs do you have? If it's full, where did you find room for the thermometer/hydrometer?
With the 20 ECO, how does everyone measure humidity come hatch time? Right now I have an Accurite in the 'bator on top of the eggs, but will have to remove it Friday for lock down. I need some way to measure humidity during lock down, but have no idea how to do it at that point. It doesn't...
Just to clarify, because I've seen it done both ways - are we supposed to remove the rails when we go into lockdown? This is my first hatch with my new Brinsea 20 ECO (I love that it's 'set it and forget it' for the most part), so I'm trying to clarify before I get to that point (on the 25th)

How did you bump up the humidity? I'm only on day 3, but have both water wells filled and the vent barely open, and my humidity is hovering between 42-43%. It's perfect for incubating, but how do I increase it when hatching time comes?

I picked mine up at Walmart. It sits on the table and the probe is inside. Here's an earlier example of my setup.

The only ones I've seen at my local WM only have probes for the thermometer. Maybe I'll check...
What type of hygrometer is everyone using in the 20 ECO? There's not enough room inside to put one, so I want to use one with a probe. Which is the best type to buy? Hubby is going to go by Petsmart this evening on his way home to see what they have in the reptile section.
I just got my Brinsea 20 ECO today and set 15 B/B/S Silkie eggs and 11 barnyard mix eggs tonight. Is it too late to join in? My babies are due March 29th by my calculations. Can't wait to see this baby in action!
