yeah, think it was Sept. Yes he is a full brother to your rooster ... unfortunately I think your was taken by an owl... Have you kept any of yours long enough to tell if the fading with molt is typical, or just hot summer and free range issues. :)

Well, because I am kind of in love with him... I have many pictures from many angles... But, I truly am not offended by any negative feedback, I would just like to learn. Sunny was a cast off of @flyingmonkeypoop ... and I know he knows more than I do. So, it isn't like I think he is the...

Sunny is fading with age. Interesting how a bird may fall in or out of a color spectrum with age and molting. He is just finishing his first molt. What do you think?

Very cool jungle pictures of your flock. Looks like you have a nice start! I love the stern look on your hen in the bottom picture. I also like that your rooster has some color, while having less Chestnut, and his legs are a beautiful yellow. I am curious, how old is he.

    The Legbar Thread!

I have had 3 Legbar roosters at the point, they are by far the best roosters I have ever had. Sunny, is always alert, protects his hens, mates like a gentleman, patrols the yard and the coops, and even fluffs egg boxes for the girls, and feeds chicks right along with the hens. He never goes...

Congratulations on the Legbar order. I also like the more colorful birds a better. If your are not from the Rees, line there is a good chance they will have some color. :) Welcome to Legbar's.

Thank you for the answer, it is interesting and something which might come up as many attempt to move away from the current goldish colors to the lighter colors. Keep us posted on your progress.

I have been hearing some people say there auto-sexing issues with the Rees line. Do most of your chicks auto-sex more easily?

Beautiful boys! Thank you for clarifying. :) Some other threads I am on, seem to want them nearly white with very little barring. I don't care for that look. I love these guys! :) Have a great 4th.

    The Legbar Thread!

Hi Chicken Picken, Thank you for the response. I am no longer defensive about Sunny's color, and I didn't feel slammed by you at all. When I was asking questions in the "Alternative SOP" thread, I was really trying to get people to break it down for me. Where is he "too colorful". I...

    The Legbar Thread!

, Sunny, my main rooster is throwing three colors of chicks this year, with his hens, based on down - dark gray - brown - and yellowish. The dark gray are currently showing the best barring and less color as they grow out. The brown boys, look like they are going to be colored like Sunny and...
