No, I haven't gotten that far yet... They have just been roaming the yard...I think they will be mad at me when I do get the run attached and they don't have our entire yard to roam. I really don't want to use the dog kennel for their run anymore, being as it is only 4 foot tall and...

Yeah....When I was done installing it, it I looked like I broke up a couple of cats in an alley. I split my finger open pretty deep just unrolling the stuff. I came inside five minutes after going outback with part of my t shirt wrapped around my finger and my wife just gave me this "...

Just another suggestion, have the rain gutters run off into a rain barrel and use the water in your garden or for your chickens.
Yeah I plan on eventually having it all run into a five gallon bucket that I am getting ready to setup with chicken nipples.
Sooooo, it has been a while since i have updated this thread...so here we go.
The girls moved in about two weeks ago and seem to really like it out there. After the very first night they were already finding their way into the coop to roost at night. I was so relieved they went right back to...
Yeah I plan on leaving those vents between the rafters open all winter unless it gets really cold...if it does then I will just their put some boards up over it temporarily.
I have another question....do you all think I have enough ventilation? I will eventually be making some covers for the sides that will be hinged for the winter....currently no water is getting into the coop so I will leave them open until it gets really cold.

I was thinking of installing my son's old toddler potty in a corner and trying to train them to use that....
Thanks...I just bought whatever was the cheapest....I knew it would end up looking the same....covered in chicken poo....lol
Eggcellent idea!!! (pun intended) Thanks. I will try to see if I can do that tomorrow...if there is isn't any rain...
I have read about the chicken math...but that shouldn't happen for at least the next 2-3 years anyways... My landlord said 5 is the max and I don't wanna tick him off...so...
Alright so I got all the walls up and it is ready to paint...unfortunately it is supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow...hopefully Monday will be paint day.
All I have to do to the left side wall is cut out the hen door and frame it up.
Here's the front side:
Inside of the front wall...
Alright....so with all this crazy Indiana weather...It took me a while to get back to working on the coop. Everytime we had a nice day where it wasn't cold/rainy I never seemed to be in town or at home. So this last week was nice about every day so I finally got some more accomplished.
This...

Thanks. It's not finished yet but it's getting close to ready to move in. One run is almost ready to fence in. Then I have an identical run on the other side to build although there's no rush on that one. The weather has slowed me down a bit too.
I'll come out and help you finish...
With the nasty weather we've had lately I haven't been able to work on my coop, I did get the feeder built. I am using 4"pvc pipe with a 90 degree curve in the middle. I bought a five foot piece and cut it in two sections, three feet and two feet. I got two caps. I then drilled five holes in the...

What do you mean by precast concrete piers? Just set it on top of the concrete? Wouldn't that make it prone to getting blown over? The next time I move it will hopefully be closer to you... I am looking to move somewhere around where you are...My wife's family is all in Terre Haute...
LOL - it won't blow over unless you get a tornado! And then you'll have other problems... Trust me, it will be waaay too heavy to be blown over.
Yeah I can tell it will be heavy. I am building the walls and then putting them up on the floor I built. Just one of the walls (especially) the...
Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Thanks! I've been doing a ton of research and asking everyone I know about building. Hopefully I can get it finished this weekend, but it looks like rain again...
Alright so we finally got some nice weather last week and I recruited my brother-in-law to help me build my coop...Neither of us have really done anything like this before and I didn't have set plans, so we were sorta wingin' it. We ended up making a few design changes along the way as I assumed...
